GREEN: At the developer’s request, Green City Council has canceled a public hearing planned for Nov. 22 on a proposal to rezone almost 16 acres off South Arlington Road for a luxury apartment complex just north of Boettler Road.Ward 2 Councilman Dave France said Keith Ritz of Redwood Management has asked for the delay while his team considers alternatives to its concept to build 83 single-floor apartments targeted for ages 55 and older.Redwood has already developed the Emerald Ridge luxury complex of with 102 apartments just north of the new site. In October, Ritz said the plan could be reduced from 83 to 70 apartments to address concerns of council and the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The commission voted in October not to recommend the project to council.France said there is no indication when the developer might ask for the hearing to be rescheduled. The firm is asking council to rezone the land from single-family residential to multi-family residential so the apartments can be constructed and the owners of two houses within the area can remain if they choose.Council on Tuesday night did approve street lighting districts for phases III and IV in the Spring Hills residential development on the north side of Boettler Road near South Arlington. It also approved the sale of two city parcels to the co-owners of City Cleaners on the northeast corner of South Arlington and East Turkeyfoot Lake roads. Planning Director Wayne Wiethe said the $50,000 for the properties is to be held for future road improvements in agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation, which is widening South Arlington and improving the intersection.France also said a city resident has asked council to consider lowering the requirement that residents have at least five acres if they want to keep farm animals.
