SUMMIT COUNTY
EPA violations
MACEDONIA: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has negotiated a settlement with Tradesmen International Inc. for wastewater discharge violations at its facility at 9760 Shepard Road.
The company will pay a penalty of $14,370 for violations that occurred between 2003 and 2010 and involved the facility’s on-site sewage treatment plant.
Tradesmen International quit using the plant and connected to the city of Twinsburg sanitary sewer system earlier this year, said the Ohio EPA on Friday.
While the system was operating, it repeatedly failed to meet permitted Ohio EPA limits and parameters. In an effort to correct the issues, the agency issued letters of violation between 2005 and 2010, citing the company for discharging pollutants to state waters and operating the system without a valid unexpired permit.
